Voluntary Biodiversity Credits

The Wildlife Trusts are in the early stages of exploring how we might offer biodiversity credits to our national partners. If your organisation is interested in investing in high-quality biodiversity projects on a national scale, in return for voluntary, high-integrity credits, please fill out our expression of interest form below.
Nature Reserve

Barnsley Main Nature Reserve

Barnsley Main is a rolling green, grassland surrounded by a fringe of woodland that was once the black spoil heap of the Oaks Colliery pit head that still stands on Oaks Lane.

Species

Wood warbler

Look for the wood warbler singing from the canopy of oak woodlands in the north and west of the UK. Green above, it has a distinctive, bright yellow throat and eyestripe.

The Wildlife Trusts are restoring woodlands and peat lands to sequester carbon, enhance biodiversity, and reduce emissions. These projects also offer flood and drought mitigation, public health improvements, increased access to nature, new jobs, and volunteer opportunities.
